Russian figure skater Evgeni Plushenko went through another surgery on his back and it has been a successful. The surgery which led him to quit from the Sochi Olympics last month was declared to be a long going process but was a successful one as stated by the doctors in Israel. Just before going to the operation room Plushenko tweeted about himself getting inside the Operation theatre. He had intended to broadcast the entire episode of himself being operated about which he had mentioned in his Twitter page. The surgery took place in Israel. The rehabilitation would be lasting for six months. This entire time he would be taking complete rest.
The surgery was basically about replacing a broken spinal disc. He had been having severe back pain for the last couple of days and had to decide on quitting to play for a few months for this particular surgery. Well, the surgery went well and the doctors are suggesting that he might even start walking tomorrow onwards.
Plushenko won the Olympics gold medal just a month before now (in the team event) and a high jump supposedly misplaced the artificially placed screw that was supporting his inter vertebral disc. He was having a warm up session where he performed a triple axel jump which basically caused this trouble to him. The recovery would at least take some time of about six months and as a result he would not be able to get to the fields any time sooner. This has certainly caused some controversies between the media of Russia. The last minute withdrawal from a tournament disappointed a lot of followers of Plushenko. Nevertheless, the surgery went well and the Russian well wishers of him and also the followers of him from all over the world can actually feel relieved because the man is out of any kind of danger and might as well get to go on sometimes very soon.
Evgeni Plushenko, has always been one of the top most skaters of the world and has won Gold medals at the Olympics twice (2006, 2014) and has also won silver medals for a couple of times (2002, 2010). He has been the world champions for three times and has also been the European champion for seven times. All of these records will always be hard to cross for any other player and moreover he is one of the most experienced performers of this particular game.
Although last month he had stated that he might as well retire because of his ill health. He said that he would try to qualify for the winter games of Pyeongchang in the year of 2018. But this would certainly be late enough for he would be aging 35 then which would make him older than the other competitors of the game. But hopefully he will still go for it. Maxim Kovtun, the 18 year old player might be substituting him some times sooner because he had defeated Plushenko in the Russian national championships. But, the fans and well wishers are very much eager to get him back in the next games.
