The Volgograd Arena in Volgograd city is one of the stadiums for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, which is currently under construction. Its located in the historic part of Volgograd close to the Mamayev Kurgan and the Motherland Calls statue.
The stadium will have a capacity of over 45,000 spectators and its planned to be built by 2017.

Capacity: 45 000;

November, 9, 2014. The Volgograd Arena took the place of the demolished Central Stadium. On this video you can see the ruins of the old Central Stadium.

February, 20, 2016. Construction of the Volgograd Arena is in full swing, it’s still planned for the work to be done by the end of 2017.
After the World Cup tournament, the Volgograd Arena will become a home stadium of the football team FC Rotor.
